Fountains among the books

Usually water and books don’t mix, but at the Huntington Beach Central Library in California, they go together very well!

If you’re sitting in the reading or study areas, you can look out floor-to-ceiling windows and see waterfalls, pools and fountains that surround the library on the exterior; inside, fountains burble quietly so as not to disturb readers.

The concrete fountains in the lobby were originally outside in the entrance courtyard when the library was built in the 1970s, but were enclosed when a 1993 addition was built.
